10:00 – 10:45 Trout in the Classroom Bucktail Area students presenting. Trout in the Classroom is a conservation-oriented environmental education program for elementary, middle, and high school students. Through the school year, students raise trout from eggs to fry and then release them into approved cold water streams and lakes. This act of raising, monitoring, and caring for young trout fosters a conservation ethic within participating students and promotes an understanding of their shared water resources.
11:00 – 11:45 Fly Fishing Small Streams with George Daniel, two time national fly fishing champion. Enjoy a video presentation that covers everything from leader setup to casting approach to fishing small mountain streams and is filmed in PA. George works for TCO Fly Shop in State College. His passion is spending time conducting educational classes and traveling the country conducting clinics. He also competes for Fly Fishing Team USA, where he been a two time national fly fishing champion and was ranked as high as fifth in the world.
12:00 – 12:45 West Branch Restoration Initiative Rebecca Holler, OSM/VISTA representing Trout Unlimited. Trout Unlimited launched the West Branch Susquehanna Restoration Initiative in 2004. This initiative is aimed at the restoration of coldwater streams and the ultimate recovery of the West Branch Susquehanna River. Trout Unlimited began its work on abandoned mine pollution in the lower Kettle Creek watershed, where it has been working in partnership with the Kettle Creek Watershed Association since 1998. More than 1,200 stream miles are polluted by abandoned mine drainage throughout the West Branch Susquehanna, which is the number one source for pollution to Pennsylvania's waterways.
Rebecca Holler is currently the Office of Surface Mining/ AmericorpVISTA representing Trout Unlimited's Eastern Abandoned Mine Program. Prior to her current position she received her BS in Biology at Elizabethtown College.
1:00 – 1:45 Pennsylvania Owls Jackie Flynn, Sinnemahoning State Park. Owls are amazing, specialized birds, and Pennsylvania is home to several species… everything from the diminutive saw-whet to the “tiger of the air”…the great horned owl. Join park naturalist Jackie Flynn for an informative presentation on the special adaptations that make these night-time predators so superbly suited to their place in the ecosystem.
Jackie M. Flynn is an Environmental Education Specialist at Sinnemahoning State Park, and is responsible for developing and producing environmental education, outdoor recreation, and interpretive programs for school groups and general public audiences who visit the park. Prior to joining DCNR, Ms. Flynn was employed by the University of Pittsburgh, the school where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and English Writing. Before joining the staff at Sinnemahoning, she served as park naturalist for Yellow Creek State Park in Indiana County, and for Sizerville State Park near Emporium.

You Got a Puppy – Now What? Greg
Frey will present a program on tips and challenges for raising and training
puppies, especially hunting breeds. He will be available all day for
folks interested in observing his pointers in action.
Greg Frey has been a top breeder and
trainer of German Shorthair Pointers for over 20 years. He has produced
and trained several Versatile Champions in the North American Hunting Dog Association,
and many AKC master hunters.
3:00 – 3:45 Nymphing Strategies George Daniel. Once again, join George to learn about nymphing techniques that can be used on local streams to expand your fly fishing options and opportunities. This video presentation covers everything from general approach, leader setup, fly patterns, nymphing with and without indicators. Filmed in MT and PA.
